As the general manager of a restaurant, there are many situations you deal with on a daily basis. One problem that you never want to deal with is roaches. Our previous pest control company completely dropped the ball. I would think that, as a pest control company, getting a location that just completed construction would be easier to maintain than a pre-existing location. In less than two years, they allowed our building to go from new construction to the edge of infestation. I hate to say this, but the problem was so bad that I turned on the lights in a back area one night and saw roaches all over the wall. At that point I knew I could not depend on them to solve my problem, so I remembered the Orkin folks in here eating lunch a couple of times. The local Orkin Man had given me his business card. When we made an initial walk through the building, I was completely embarrassed and quite ashamed of where we had gotten. He took it all in stride. He was very professional and assured me that the problem could be fixed.

We were plagued with ants for years in just about every room of the house. With over 5,000 sq. ft. of living space, that’s a lot of ants. It was not a rare occurrence to pick up a coffee cup with an ant floating on the top. If food was out more than five minutes, the ants enjoyed one of their many meals. Last Thanksgiving, ants were carried into the dining room from the kitchen, and they had Thanksgiving dinner with us at the dining room table.

We had a contract with a competitor for close to seven years but never recognized a resolution to our problem. We would see fewer ants on occasion yet never experienced a result that satisfied. Finally, we gave up and chose to fight them ourselves, which brought about the same results. This was one of the most frustrating situations I ever had to deal with. A few months ago, we noticed a significant increase in the ants inside and outside of our house. I was seriously considering a move to a new house. I was that desperate and frantic at this point.

Fortunately, Orkin was the company I chose from the phone book. The Orkin Man arrived and was friendly, efficient, and informative and seemed to truly care about our problem. I was impressed with his knowledge and professional manner. I am sure that I wasn’t an easy first-time client to deal with or to reassure. When the contract was set up with Orkin on the phone, I was certainly skeptical as you can imagine.

A couple of weeks following his visit, I noticed a significant decrease in the ant population inside our home. Upon his arrival today, the ants have almost completely disappeared! I am aware that we can never win the war against ants outside, but we certainly should be able to sit in our home without them crawling all over us. Thanks for the thorough and complete service. After only a month, we have seen unbelievable results. The Orkin Man gave us back a quality of life that we had forgotten existed.

I would like to inform you of a special kindness shown to me by the Orkin Man. On Oct. 7, my little rat terrier died. She had been a member of my family for 15 years, so you can imagine the devastation I felt. I am a middle-aged grandmother with a slight heart condition and no prior experience digging holes. However, on that morning I tried digging a hole in my yard deep enough to bury my dog. I was extremely tired, out of breath, and a little frustrated that progress was slow.

I became tearful, even prayerful that someone would come along to help me. Almost immediately he drove up next door to inspect my neighbor’s house. I called to him and explained my need. He came over without hesitation and proceeded to dig past the roots and hard earth. He very sympathetically buried my dog and told me not to look. He relayed to me that he was a family man with children and had undertaken this task several times with his own pets. I have called the Wilson office to praise and commend the Orkin Man on this humane act of kindness. If this is an example of Orkin employees, then I am happy to have been a customer for over 20 years. I only met him that day, but I will remember him forever.
